QPR have completed the signing of Lazio striker Djibril Cisse on the final day of the January transfer window.
Djibril Cisse decided to leave Lazio after struggling for both form and fitness during the first half of the season, and has signed a two and half year deal with QPR.
The move comes as a major announcement for QPR given that they now have the ability to attract some of the best quality players, who would have not otherwise come without the finances at the disposal of QPR.
QPR manager Mark Hughes was promised significant transfer funds by the new owner Tony Fernandes and he seems to have kept his word with the signing of Djibril Cisse.
Three other major players have arrived at QPR this transfer window - Taye Taiwo, Samba Diakite, and Nedum Onuoha. Each of them possess a lot of quality to help QPR getaway from the relegation zone and also challenge for the European places, which seems to be the ambition of Tony Fernandes. They might not be topping the Europa League odds next season, but we expect QPR to feature in 2013/14.
Cisse has a wealth of Premier League experience after having played for the likes of Liverpool and Sunderland, whilst he also has great European experience as well, which will come in handy for manager Mark Hughes.
"He's a huge threat to opposition defences. He's got great pace, power and movement and that's something we will hopefully benefit from. His goal record is there for everyone to see. He's scored goals wherever he's played. His record speaks for itself," manager Mark Hughes said after announcing the signing of the player.
So far, Djibril Cisse has scored nine goals in 41 appearances for the French national team, and now that he is getting regular football again is expected to be included in the French squad for Poland-Ukraine. The latest Euro 2012 winning odds suggest that France have an outside chance.
He has also played for the likes of Marseille. The player revealed that QPR's ambition was one of the main reasons for him to come to London.
